Gary GalitskyGary Galitsky joined the NYC Police Department in April 1997, starting his career in the 60th Precinct. During his tenure there, he became interested in doing investigative work when he was assigned to assist detectives on their cases that dealt with the Russian-speaking community. One of the more notable cases was the murder of Police Officer Ralph Dols.

In 1999, Gary was transferred to the Narcotics Division and embarked on one of the most challenging assignments in police work, as an undercover narcotics investigator. Gary successfully infiltrated the dark criminal corners of the Russian community, operating out of Brighton Beach and all of Coney Island. During his 4 years as an undercover detective, Gary was responsible for over 400 narcotics buys. In addition, Gary participated in scores of major investigations, while his narcotics buys and intelligence reporting yielded over 100 search warrants. At the age of 26 and with only 4 years in the Police Department, Gary was promoted to Detective Investigator.
In February 2003, Gary was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was assigned to the 62nd Precinct. In 2005, Gary was transferred to the Organized Crime Control Bureau Training Unit. For the next 6 years, he trained some of the most talented and courageous detectives in the Police Department. Gary taught the Undercover Course as well as the Narcotics Investigator Course. In order to stay current in tactics, he participated in executing high risk narcotics entries for over 100 warrants.
In 2011, Gary was transferred to the Asset Forfeiture Unit. This unit is where he made the most impact. Asset Forfeiture Unit conducts financial investigations in order to dismantle criminal enterprises by removing currency, real property and vehicles that were purchased with illegal funds or used to facilitate their illegal organization. In February 2012, Gary was rewarded with a discretionary promotion to Sergeant Detective Squad. During his tenure at Asset Forfeiture Unit, Gary oversaw the successful seizure and forfeiture of over 100 million dollars.
